"Listen to our voices!"

Because of the virus outbreak of Covid-19, the government had no other choice but to shut down the school to keep students isolated and safe against the virus. Parents and students start to worry about the education of students and pupils. Asking the question “How would we provide quality education for students during this pandemic”. Education systems all around the world start to find a salient solution to this concern.

The government solution to quality education of students is home-schooling or online class. Students access information about given topics and lessons on the web or the internet, but not all students can access the internet. Many students are struggling and complaining about the education system because they couldn’t afford or don’t have the right equipment in home-schooling and online classes, some are also struggling because of the unstable connection of networks. Not only the students are struggling with this matter but also the teachers. Not all teachers and students are financially stabled. Students’ home became their school and classroom, students as well became teachers themselves, trying to learn lessons and answering tasks on their own. There are many students are good with online class and self-study, they can easily learn given lessons without the help of teachers, there are also students who are also struggling with self-study and online class, simply because they don’t have someone who guides them with the lesson given. Some students are not used to this kind of modality of education.

The hope of the country, the children, the students, they’re taking their lives one-by-one. We are slowly losing hope in our country, with students committing suicide. They’re committing suicide because of stress and frustration caused by loads of learning modules and tasks. We’re not even learning anymore, students are just trying to pass loads of outputs on time. This type of education system is killing us slowly.

In conclusion, this type of learning is not working for many students and teachers. DepEd should be more considerate in deciding for quality education for students, they should be deliberate when choosing what’s best for all the students and teachers. DepEd should not act blindly anymore, students are taking their lives one-by-one and they should do something about this matter before it gets any worst.
