  Festivals, of several sorts, work both to fulfill specific needs and to provide entertainment. For religious, social, or geographical classes, these periods of celebration give a sense of belonging. Modern festivals based on cultural or ethnic subjects aim to remind members of their culture or tradition. In previous times, festivals were times when the elderly discussed stories and passed to the next generation some knowledge. The Philippines has so many festivals, these festivals celebrating moments in history that defined identity, polity and locality. The Philippines has over 42,000 festivals annually celebrated.
